Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AFD

The reviewer over at ThinkCamera has some words of advice about the Nikon 50mm 1.8 AFD lens, “just buy it”, being a user of the lens myself I must agree. The lens can be described as “old school” with its aperture ring, manual focus ring, and along with slow auto focusing abilities. Despite these minor incontinences the lens is solid and its under $ 100 price point makes it a great value. Of all the reviews I read for this lens, I would have to say the general consensus on the lens is that it provides for sharp high quality images. Although the camera is not equipped with a zoom its effective 70mm focal length on digital cameras make it ideal for portraits, while its 1.8 aperture makes it great for low light photography. I would recommend this lens as a companion to your lens collection, for special situations.
